Baby | Ainsley Wren

I was bad and skipped blogging yesterday, so I’m making up for it today! Hooray! A few weeks ago I put out an invitation to photograph a newborn for free. You see, I have this great little office space but had never considered shooting in it (unless it was a simple headshot). But I got to thinking after the flooring was finished, that it might be viable to photograph the tiny ones in here and I wanted to test it out! Thankfully Shayne (Ainsley’s mom) was willing to make the hike to Davidson from Waxhaw on a freezing cold night with her brand new baby girl. They were so kind to give me their time and a little one to play with. It taught me that I can certainly photograph a baby in my space, and want to continue to pursue it. So… if you’re having a little one in the coming months, contact me for special newborn studio pricing! My whole thought for this shoot was to have a baby girl on my sideboard with a beautiful ribbon backdrop…. well, as you can see I didn’t have enough of a backdrop! Lesson learned for next time 🙂 This was definitely an experiment, and I’m grateful to have learned so much in a short hour!

Portraits | 2011 Review

As promised, I’ve followed yesterday’s 2011 wedding review with our portraits 🙂 I really love doing portrait sessions, they’re so much more relaxed than a wedding day. We get to chit-chat and get to know our clients a bit better. While I really feed off the energy of a wedding day, the slower pace of portrait sessions are so nice! I included our bridals in here, as we consider them a “portrait” session….. I didn’t have bridals done when we got married, but I SO wish I had! It really allows you to try out your hair/makeup/shoes/jewels…. all together with that fabulous dress. ***I’ve been thinking about giving away a bridal session to our next bride we book….. would anyone be interested 😉 ????     Thank you all for making our 2011 extra special!   PS…. did you notice that little one in the bottom left corner??? I haven’t blogged her yet, but she’s the newest addition to the Horton family! Jeremy’s sister had her the week before Christmas, Anna Beth Avery 🙂

Business | Holiday Special!

Can you believe we’re past mid September?!? It’s time to get a head start on that Holiday to-do list…. which involves your Holiday cards, right? Last year we offered a special for mini sessions and want to do it again this year. Here’s what it will involve: *A 20 minute session on Sunday, November 27th in north Charlotte. Session times will be every half hour, and will have an outdoor living room feel 🙂 *25 handmade Holiday Cards from Golden Invites, each with a professionally printed wallet photo attached to the card. White envelopes included. *One digital image from your session.   You have your choice between 2 card options, standard & upgraded. The standard card will include a paper color of your choice, and design of your choice. The upgraded option will include white or champagne paper, custom text (including your names!) and a color backing of your choice. Please click on the thumbnails below to view all the choices. You can mix and match the designs with different color paper.   How Much? Standard: $150 Upgraded: $160   When booking the session a $75 retainer is required for your time slot. When this is paid you’ll also need to know which card options you’d like, as it is time consuming for Golden Invites to make all the orders. Need more than 25 cards? No problem! Just ask about pricing for sets of 10 or 25 cards. Email me today to reserve your spot!

Baby | Rosalee Kate

Jeremy and I traveled up to Durham to meet 7 day old Rosalee Kate. She’s such a doll, with a family who’s enthralled with her. Must be nice to be snuggled up 24/7! While we were there, we made sure to grab a few shots of Rosalee’s big brother & sister. Rosalee’s last name is Wicker…. so it only seemed appropriate we use the chairs on their porch 🙂 Thanks for sharing the first few days of Rosalee with us, can’t wait to see you again in October!
