Personal | Film, Oklahoma

Back in November I packed my bags & headed for Tulsa, Oklahoma. My day job hosts an annual convention each November, and this time the midwest region was the host. The week is normally uneventful, I’m stuck breathing recycled hotel air & eating hotel food. My coworkers & I try and find a car to get us out, this year was no different. We made stops at Braum’s, the River Spirit Casino and a few other local places. I didn’t take many photos, but here’s a few I did.     I few back to NC extremely early, and got to see the sunrise from the air…  Next November we’ll be in Boise, Idaho….. I’m keeping my fingers crossed to see a Boise State game! ** All shot on the Nikon F5 with Portra 400

Goals | November

I don’t think I did a goals post in October…. oops. Probably because the 1st was a Saturday and we were busy shooting Jamie & Brian’s wedding. …. ugh… just scrolled back through the blog & I didn’t do one for September either…. it’s been a busy fall, don’t judge 😉 October has proved to be the best kind of insane possible. Great clients, beautiful weather, traveling, and sharing it all with the hubs! Now that it’s November, I’m not sure how I’ll deal with having a few free Saturdays! So… August… yes, let’s go all the way back! 1. Blog Allie & Jamie’s Oak Island wedding…. hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday! DONE 2. Make a dent in the office decorating with Jeremy’s help DONE 3. Edit & blog Laura & Nathan’s Charlotte wedding DONE 4. Edit & blog Katie & Philip’s Wake Forest wedding DONE 5. Order a sample album from a NEW album company!! So excited about this one! DONE 6. Continue to search for Jeremy a new shooting bag…. stylish that zips shut is HARD to find! I’m convinsed it doesn’t exist! 7. Photograph Susie’s Charlotte wedding DONE 8. 2nd shoot in Wilmington DONE 9. Have the pink sofa reupholstered.  DONE 10. Purchase a video light. DONE   November Goals: 1. Edit & Blog Catey & Michael’s wedding 2. Edit & Blog Arianne & Jeff’s wedding 3. Prepare for boudoir shoots 4. Take our Christmas card photo 5. Enjoy Thanksgiving! 6. Celebrate my birthday! 7. Finish up all album orders before I leave for Oklahoma next week 8. Photograph Heather & Graham’s engagement 9. Work on submitting more to blogs & magazines 10. Put together my new referral packets for brides 11. Photograph Emma Rae’s 2nd birthday!   So basically…. November is catch up for a crazy October!   Now…. for a little belated Halloween image…. Arianne & Jeff’s rings 🙂

Personal | 2 Years

Two years ago, I was sitting in a hotel, surrounded by my best ladies. We were about to have our hair and makeup done, and then head off to Sertoma where I would marry Jeremy. Jeremy was probably trying to relax before lunching with his men. Our day was filled with chaos (thanks to the rental co. shorting us 40 chairs!), laughter, smiles and happy tears.   Our day was the perfect October day, bright, sunny and warm… and the night was cool and crisp 🙂 I married my best friend…. and tonight we’ll celebrate with a home cooked meal… probably in our pajamas.  October is so busy for us (hello 5 weddings and about 5 portrait sessions) that we’ll be taking a belated mini cruise in December to the Bahamas!     Maybe I’ll dive into my wedding details for you one day soon 🙂   *image by Story Photographers

Couple | Vanessa & Ryan

Back in the spring I came across this blog post by Jackie Wonders.  I loved her use of the car-wash, and wanted to expand on that idea. So the idea of this shoot was born. I’d come up with the perfect “all American” couple in my mind… the perfect car, the perfect wardrobe…. I found the perfect couple and wardrobe, however I was hoping for a car like an el Camino, or K5 Blazer…. but I digress. Jeremy’s old Suburban worked fine, and gave us other photo ops the other 2 cars wouldn’t have…. and the dark green color was perfect. I want to pause a moment to say this is the kind of shoot I LOVE. The kind of shoot I live for. When we have so much creative freedom, and the people we’re shooting trust us 100%, good things happen.     Thank you guys so much for being great sports!!
