Wedding | Jamie & Brian Part I

Remember Jamie & Brian?? here & here! Jamie and Brian tied the knot on Saturday in Cary at the beautiful Matthews House in Cary, NC. They had the most perfect wedding weather, party cloudy + mid-70’s = awesome! The ladies started their day at the Perfect 10 Salon with Tanya.       The 2 photos below are 2 of my favorite “getting ready” images, ever! Brian & Jamie didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony, but wanted to exchange letters, so Brian hid behind the wall as Jamie came down the staircase, it was a fun moment, turned really sweet 🙂 I don’t normally get to be so close during the ceremony, either due to venue restrictions or because I just don’t feel comfortable being so close, and don’t want to be a distraction…. but I snuck over behind the tree and grabbed this image, so glad I did…. it’s one  of my favorites!   …… stay tuned for part 2!

Back on one of those blazing 100 degree days I made a trip over to north Raleigh to see Emily. Emily is Jenny’s BFF…. through the power of social media (Twitter!) I was able to obtain this opportunity. I started reading Jenny’s blog years ago… I think it was about the time she had her 3rd daughter Evie on Christmas Eve in her living room (not on purpose) that had me hooked for good. She’s a interior designer with a great sense of eclectic/traditional style…… she’s gained a huge following over the past years, I am one of her many loyal followers. (side note: she’s actually the person who inspired my cornice/pelment boxes in our house!) So… when she put out on Twitter she needed an NC photographer to shoot Emily’s home (which she’d been working on via the power of the internet)… I replied back that I could do it! Now…. do I normally shoot homes? Nope. I had done the photos for our real estate listing back in the spring when we tried selling our house, but that was it…. my only experience shooting a house. She emailed me and seemed excited that I had jumped at the chance. To say I was excited was a giant understatement. I was thrilled & so nervous. Shoot day came, and went off without a hitch. The last thing I shot that day was Emily & her adorable family.  So head over to The Little Green Notebook & check out the fabulous designing Jenny & Emily did and the photographs I took to capture it! Enjoy!   Master Bedroom Office Parker’s Bedroom Emmett’s Nursery & Boys Bath Living Room ….. I’ll update this list as she blogs more spaces 🙂

Personal | Super Susie

I’ve never really encountered this illness much less by someone I knew, or someone my own age. Susie sat in the chair having her hair & makeup done on her wedding day, she looked at me and said “I don’t think I’ve told you, I have breast cancer” Earlier in the summer she’d found out & had a double mastectomy & then reconstructive surgery. She proceeded to make a joke about wanting a shirt she’d seen that said “Yes, they’re fake. My real ones tried to kill me” That’s exactly the spirit Susie has kept with her breast cancer battle. She delayed her chemo treatments until after the wedding, so that she’d still have her hair at the wedding, and not be so sick. The Tuesday following their wedding she started the treatments. She’s since shaved her head. While away in Savannah last weekend to attend a wedding, I got an email on my phone from Trinette, a mutual friend of mine & Susies…. and the reason Susie & I met. She explained she had joined a Susan G. Komen team for Susie & they were raising money. I happily donated. I’d love if my readers would consider donating to this cause. Click here for info on how to contribute. Please remember every little bit helps.   **Posted with Susie’s permission.
