In early fall I photographed two weddings in Cashiers at Lonesome Valley and knew I wanted to go back and spend more time there. When I was a kid, my dad had a goal of seeing every county in North Carolina…. so driving aimlessly and calling it “family vacation” was nothing new. One part of NC I’d yet to see was Jackson and Franklin Counties (or if I have, I don’t remember)…. so after photographing those two weddings a weekend trip was in order. For Jeremy’s birthday I booked a room at 200 Main, an Old Edwards Inn property in downtown Highlands. Aside from the obnoxious rain we dealt with all day, Saturday… we had a wonderful time exploring beautiful Highway 64 and many stops along the way. I hope to get back up there for more weddings in the future! We had already made one stop at Bridal Veil Falls, but on our way back a whole crew of Mini’s were parked there, so we stopped and joined their photo!During our trip, we stopped at Satulah Mountain Brewing Company to avoid the rain and watch some football. How adorable is the Summer Chapel?! I peaked inside to see it’s beautiful, simple design. I’d love to photograph a couple here! The following weekend we made a quick visit to Grandfather Mountain. Another spot I’d never been to! I could not believe how cold and windy it was compared to the weather we left in Charlotte. It was mid 60’s at home… and low 30’s on top of Grandfather mountain! On the way up we stopped for coffee and to watch the Carolina Balloon Festival’s sunrise launch.
