Film | Jamaica

When I as prepping for Alan & Ashley’s wedding in Jamaica, I knew I wanted to shoot a little film. So I packed 3 rolls of Kodak Portra 800 in my camera bag… but as weddings are (even the relaxed, destination type) time gets away from me, and my focus can get cloudy…. so I forget about the film and snapped along on my D700. After our 3 days in Montego bay I hadn’t even finished the first roll in my camera! I took all of THREE photos during the wedding….  Ashley’s shoes and one of their cocktail setup (after it was over)… #wompwomp so Jeremy and I walked the property one last time before catching our shuttle to the airport to finish up that roll. I got the scans back a few weeks ago… and we were both smacking ourselves…. WHY DID WE NOT SHOOT MORE FILM?!?!?! Ugh. it was a little heartbreaking to see these perfectly lush photos that feel like you could reach into them and touch the water and smell the flowers. I vow that I WILL slow down and shoot a little more film! Camera: Zenza Bronica ETRS      Film: Kodak Portra 800 (120)      Lab: The FIND Lab

Venue | Ritchie Hill

I’ve followed along on the Ritchie Hill renovation via Facebook & Instagram and couldn’t wait to set foot inside for their open house last weekend. I grabbed Jeremy, and a roll of Portra 800 and off we went. We were greeted with beers, yummy treats and warm welcomes from the staff and Ritchie family. I still have some 2015 dates available for weddings and would love to work with a couple at Ritchie Hill for their big day! The entire upstairs is dedicated to the bride & her entourage. The brides room has a lovely vanity, sofa, huge windows and a beautiful full length mirror. Perfect for slipping into your dress. The hallway includes a vanity with multiple mirrors, wonderful for your gals to primp! There’s even a private balcony up there that allows for fresh air and breezes… and peeking on guests as they arrive.

Film | Charleston II

On Tuesday I shared my behind the scenes and detail shots of our session at RiverOaks in Charleston, SC… today I’m sharing a few of my favorite shots of the couple who modeled, Hayley and Walker… a real-life couple who’s tying the knot in a few months! The dresses provided were from Astrid and Mercedes, and were stunning… so delicate and feminine!

Film | Charleston

A few weeks ago I spent two days in Charleston, SC shooting at a new-ish venue, RiverOaks. The European vibe this venue offers right on the Wando River is a place like no other. It’s a private home that takes 7 weddings a year and offers incredibly personal service to the couples who tie the knot there. The grounds are manicured to perfection, without feeling stuffy or uptight. The house emulates all things French country-side, filled the most incredible furnishings…. and the 2 chocolate labs that drink from the fountain on the patio make you feel like nothing is too precious to enjoy. The day was split into two sessions… the getting ready/details and then the bride/groom… I thought I’d split it into 2 posts…. I’ve also included behind the scenes of the other photographers in attendance. Images are all film, color is Portra 800 (mix of 35mm & 120) and black & white is Ilford 3200.      Stay tuned for part 2 on Thursday!
